GREAT WAR 1914 -1919 - CENTENARY COMMEMORATION FLOWER FESTIVAL AND FETE

On Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th and Monday 14th July 2014 St Michael’s church in partnership with the Aston Clinton Community Group are holding a Centenary Commemoration of the outbreak of the Great War.

A flower festival with First World War themed titles will be included together with WW1 memorabilia. In addition there will be a fete on the Saturday and Sunday in the church grounds with a variety of stalls and where lunches and teas will be available. The Flower displays are being made by village organisations and local people. As part of the festival we would like to decorate pews ends to commemorate people’s lives. Flower arrangements will be provided for a minimum donation of £10. If you would like to take part or wish to know more about the festival, please contact Mrs Joan Collins on 01296 632039.

The commemoration event will be held in St Michael’s church. There will also be an evening of songs from the last 100 years to be held in the Anthony hall on the Saturday evening. Tickets are available from Mike Collins (01296632039) and Marion Richards (01296630577)

All monies raised will go towards the upkeep of our beautiful church.

The Horticultural Society will be represented and their display is based on gardening during the 1st world war.   We are looking for old gardening tools that may have been used at that time. We are also looking for any pictures or photographs on gardening from this period.  If you can help please contact the Society through the usual email contact: info@astonclintonhorticulturalsociety.co.uk
